Presiden Republik Indonesia (RI) Prabowo Subianto telah melantik 48 nama untuk menjadi menteri pada Kabinet Merah Putih. Pada jajaran Kabinet Merah Putih, ada salah satu nama yang diubah yakni Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika (Kominfo).
Kini, Kominfo berganti nama menjadi Kementerian Komunikasi dan Digital (Kemenkomdigi). Ada alasan besar di balik berubahnya nama kementerian yang sudah menggunakan nama tersebut sejak 2009 pada era pemerintahan Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).
“Nama kementeriannya berubah untuk menjawab tantangan zaman. Jadi memang juga menjadi fokus sesuai dengan Asta Cita Bapak Presiden Prabowo bahwa kita juga akan menitikberatkan kepada digital. Jadi nama Komunikasi dan Informatika berubah menjadi Komunikasi dan Digital, (disingkatnya) Komdigi,” kata Meutya Viada Hafid, Menteri Komdigi, di Kantor Kominfo, Senin (21/10/2024).
Ia mengungkapkan, Komdigi memiliki tugas untuk menyelaraskan antara komunikasi dan digitalisasi. Oleh sebab itu, pihaknya akan mengunjungi daerah 3T (tertinggal, terdepan, dan terluar).
